Introduction
The Emergency Placement Resources (EPR) program provides resources in several licensed residential childcare facilities that operate on a seven days a week, 24 hour basis for the 17 child welfare agencies that are mandated by the four authorities.
Duties:
Reporting to the Unit Supervisor, the Emergency Placement Resources (EPR) Coordinator is responsible for the overall supervision and management of licensed residential childcare facilities within the Branch's short term emergency resources program. The EPR Coordinator ensures that the safety and needs of children placed in their shelter are met, by providing supervision to all shelter staff. The EPR Coordinator is responsible for developing individual behaviour plans for the children placed in their assigned shelters, as well as being a resource to placing social workers to assist in identifying and recommending long-term placement plans, by assessing and identifying specific needs of the child. The EPR Coordinator supervises, builds and develops unit teams to address the operational matters related to expenditures, licensing, and quality standards, and ensures adequate staffing ratios are in place. The EPR Coordinator may be required to work evenings and weekends
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post secondary education in social science or a combination of education and related experience may be considered
- Experience working with children and youth in a residential care setting
- Experience supervising staff, including but not limited to scheduling, managing performance and providing direction
- Knowledge of case management (Intake, assessment, implementation, evaluation and closure)
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-systemic team
- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft (Word and Outlook)
Desired:
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act
- Experience managing budgets, including allocation of funds and record keeping
Conditions of Employment:

- Satisfactory Criminal Records, Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks
- Valid drivers license, access to a car and ability to travel within the City of Winnipeg
