Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license, with the ability to travel throughout the Province of Manitoba
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Degree or diploma in agriculture, public relations, creative communications (CreComm), political studies, business/management, social sciences or a related discipline
  • Experience in conducting public consultation projects, public communications and related activities
  • Experience in the management of high profile public issues and working with the public on contentious issues or projects
  • Experience in the field of public relations, including issues management
  • Ability to organize, plan and execute events
  • Ability to provide strategic advice to senior officials and staff
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to handle conflict situations
  • Ability to exercise discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality
 
Desired:
  • Knowledge of the agriculture industry, animal welfare, production practices, environmental sustainability and climate change
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations
Duties:
Reporting to the Director, Transformation, the Leader, Industry Public Engagement is responsible for the development and delivery of innovative initiatives that emphasize consultation and collaboration in addressing numerous overarching issues in the agriculture and food industries such as animal welfare, production practices, food safety, environmental sustainability and climate change utilizing a coordinated, efficient and effective approach that serves to build public trust in agriculture and contributes to an increased competitive position of agriculture in Manitoba.
