The Senior Roadside Development Administrator is responsible for providing highly professional, very complex, confidential analytical and administrative services to the Highway Planning & Design branch. The incumbent must exercise considerable judgement when accepting, reviewing, evaluating and analysing permit applications for the Provincial Trunk Highway and Provincial Road Systems, in order to ensure the safety, efficiency and future infrastructure needs of the highway are not compromised.

  • A valid Class 5 driver's license or arrange alternative means of transportation to attend to meetings and site inspections throughout the province including rural locations.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience performing a variety of administrative and clerical functions.
  • Effective written communication skills including experience proofreading, editing and creating various forms of written communications.
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of access management principles.

Desired:
  • Experience working with permits and permit approval processes.
  • Ability to apply and interpret acts and regulations (i.e. Transportation Infrastructure Act).

Duties:
Receives, researches, evaluates and analyzes permit applications, background information and supporting documents to determine the acceptability and compliance with respect to departmental policies, plans, and practices. Prepares and provides information packages for the public, departmental staff and other government agencies regarding permit application process and requirements under The Transportation Infrastructure Act. Provides information and advice regarding Departmental policies and procedures on access management issues and building setback requirements to departmental staff, other government departments and agencies, planning districts, municipal officials, land use planners, consultants and the general public. Researches, analyses and writes letters regarding inquiries from lawyers and real estate agents undertaking due diligence reviews in relation to The Highway Infrastructure Act.
