This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Integrated Planning Branch of the Department of Agriculture and Resource Development as the Manager of Integrated Resource Planning. As the Manager, you will lead the development of integrated resource management plans that consider all aspects of Manitoba’s people, landscapes and assets to enable proactive approaches to the sustainable development of Manitoba’s resources.

Qualifications:
Essential:

• Post-secondary education in a related area of study such as Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Forestry, Geology, Hydrology, Biology, Indigenous studies, Community Economic Development, Planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Extensive experience in the management of natural resources, land use planning, and policy development
• Experience working with First Nations and other Indigenous communities, municipal and federal government, and non-government organizations such as industry associations, stakeholder groups, and/or academia
• Experience leading teams including assigning work, setting priorities, and reporting progress
• Knowledge of multi-dimensional aspects of land use & resource management including reconciling diverse communities' needs, and related environmental, social and economic considerations
• Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and collaborate
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate complex and/or sensitive issues in plain language, respecting a variety of viewpoints
• Experience preparing authority seeking documents such as Cabinet Submissions, Treasury Board Submissions, Advisory Notes, and information for senior officials

Desired:

• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the purposes of land use planning and natural resource management

Duties:
As the Manager of Integrated Resource Planning, you will lead a team of professionals that consider the way in which people and natural landscapes interact. Your leadership will bring together expertise and interests in land use planning, water management, bio-diversity conservation, natural heritage management, and the future sustainability of industries like agriculture, mining, eco-tourism, fisheries and forestry. You will work closely with other Branches of government; other levels of government, including Federal, municipal and Indigenous governments; stakeholders; academia; industry; and communities on the development of sustainable resource management plans and special initiatives. You will also lead a process for interdisciplinary review of major resource development projects in Manitoba.
