This position is Designated Bilingual. The incumbent must be able to communicate fluently in both official languages (English and French). To receive consideration for this position, candidates must submit their application in both English and French. Only candidates selected for further consideration will be assessed on their ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both official languages (English and French).

The Department of Sport, Culture and Heritage is seeking a fully bilingual Digital Engagement Officer who is able to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment. This position is the first level of access to government for many citizens and is responsible for providing direct, timely and accurate responses to inquiries from the public in both official languages through multiple digital platforms (telephone, email, web-based, social media and live chat).

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Extensive experience providing customer service including responding to public inquries
  • Experience communicating with clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal communication in English and French in order to respond effectively through live chat and phone
  • Experience researching and compiling information from various media outlets
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills  with ability to interpret legislation, policy, and practices
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a high volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to manage change well within a team environment
  •  Ability to work independently and apply professional judgement to make decisions
  • Strong written communication skills in English and French to respond effectively through live chat, email, and social media channels
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience working with databases for research and reporting purposes

Desired:
  • Professional experience using social media platforms
  • Experience with content management and web applications

Duties:
This bilingual position manages and updates the Residents Portal, maintains an internal database of contact information specific to government programs and services, and maintains the government phone book. The incumbent has daily contact in both English and French with the public, government staff and executives. The officer utilizes multiple digital platforms to engage with citizens both domestic and international. Responsibilities include research and statistical reporting, reviewing news updates both within the government, the province and Canada.
