The Indigenous Excellence in Education Division within the Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning is seeking to fill a regular full time Consultant, Student Success and Community Engagement position.
Duties:
The Consultant, Student Success and Community Engagement provides leadership, coordination, and support for priorities, programs, and strategies that promote attendance, engagement, belonging, and positive educational outcomes across Manitoba’s K to 12 education system. Working collaboratively with school divisions, Indigenous governments and organizations, community partners, and cross government staff, the Consultant provides leadership and coordination for initiatives that support student presence, engagement, belonging, and well-being, address barriers to participation, and advance Indigenous student success.

Qualifications:
Essential:
Post-secondary degree in education, public policy, social sciences, Indigenous studies, community development, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must possess or be eligible for a Manitoba Teacher’s Certificate or an appropriate Manitoba school clinician certificate, such as school social work, school psychology, or another relevant clinician area.
Significant experience leading complex education policy or program, or community-based initiatives, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Experience conducting research and analysis, and preparing evidence-informed advice and/or recommendations within a work setting.
Extensive knowledge of Manitoba’s K to 12 education system and Indigenous education, including relevant legislation and policies, Indigenous perspectives and protocols, truth and reconciliation, and issues affecting student success, attendance, engagement, and well-being.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with school divisions, Indigenous governments and/or organizations, community partners, and other stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and sound judgment skills.
Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and present sensitive information to a variety of audiences.
Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write complex decision making documents for senior management
Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
Must be willing and able to work extended hours as required
Must be able to travel by ground and air across Manitoba with possible overnight stays, as required
