The Department of Environment and Climate Change is seeking a qualified and skilled candidate to fill a Senior Regional Drinking Water Officer position in Steinbach. The Office of Drinking Water Branch is responsible for administering and enforcing The Drinking Water Safety Act and its regulations, licences, permits, advisories and orders to protect public health.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Drinking Water Officer, the Senior Regional Drinking Water Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of Manitoba’s drinking water in a region of Manitoba by overseeing water system compliance with The Drinking Water Safety Act and regulations. This involves onsite inspection and sampling, working with Medical Officers of Health to issue and rescind water quality advisories, and taking enforcement action including by issuing warnings and tickets. The Senior Regional Drinking Water Officer is a supervisory role that requires strong leadership skills. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and reporting on the activities of the region and must provide advice, guidance, mentoring, and training on the interpretation of policies and legislation to guide the work of staff. The incumbent must also identify and coordinate the available human, operational and information resources required to achieve program objectives in the region.
