Duties:
Under the direction of the Fire Control Officer and/or Regional Cache Supervisor, the successful candidate’s duties will include servicing, maintaining, cleaning, refurbishing, and re-stocking of wildfire suppression equipment in preparation for re-deployment to the field. The candidate will also provide logistical support during periods of fire activity and will be required to assist with loading and unloading fire equipment, fuel, groceries, and other cargo into various vehicles, fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. The incumbent will be required to operate a 5-ton cargo truck for the procurement and delivery of fire equipment, drummed fuel, groceries and other supplies to various bases throughout the Eastern Region and the province, if required. The successful candidate will be required to assist with fire equipment inventory management throughout the Eastern Region and will be required to work weekends and overtime on short notice. The individual may be required to operate a forklift, participate as an Aerial Detection Observer on fixed-wing fire patrols, and may be required to work at remote fire camps or be deployed to other Regions within the province. The incumbent may be required to assist with maintenance & construction projects; participate in employee training and development programs; and will be required to conduct work activities in accordance with Workplace Safety & Health policies.
