Conditions of Employment:

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

• Must be willing to undergo Marine Emergency Duties A3 (within 6 months of hire date), WHMIS, Confined Space Entry, and First Aid/CPR training (within 1st year, training provided).
• Must be able to work in/over water and under adverse weather conditions.  Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
• Must be able to travel within the province by air, ground and/or water.
• Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver’s licence without restrictions.
• Must be able to work according to the ferry schedule. 
• Must be able to work extended hours, including overtime evenings and/or weekends including statutory holidays as required.

Qualifications:
Essential:

• Experience operating and maintaining light and/or heavy duty equipment.
• Experience with building maintenance.
• Ability to display initiative.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired:

• Ability to adapt and learn new procedures.

Duties:
This position is responsible for assisting the Captain and Restricted Engineer in the daily operation and maintenance of a registered passenger/vehicle motor vessel according to Transport Canada Marine Safety (TCMS) Regulations and any other applicable Provincial Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
