Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Manitoba, or eligible for full licensure with the ability to attain prior to hire.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when emergencies dictate.
  • Must provide satisfactory criminal record check.
  • American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) board certification or eligibility.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an educational institute accredited by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, or successful completion of the North American Licensing Exam (NAVLE) and other pre-requisite exams required to obtain a full license to practice in Manitoba.
  • Work or academic experience and expertise in clinical pathology; interpretation of hematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, urinalysis, endocrinology and other pertinent laboratory results.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to work efficiently maintain turnaround times and coordinate multiple tests within tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills used to effectively interact with a range of individuals, share information and handle matters with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Desired:
  • Experience developing laboratory policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in areas of veterinary medicine other than clinical pathology. 
Duties:
The Veterinary Diagnostic Clinical Pathologist position in the Veterinary Diagnostic Services (VDS) is responsible for the technical oversight of the clinical pathology laboratory within VDS and is ultimately responsible for reviewing and interpreting diagnostic tests to determine cause of illness or death within a herd or individual animal.
