Introduction
The Workforce Training and Employment Division is looking to add a Trainer to their dynamic team in Brandon

Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Certificate or Diploma in Adult Education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs 
  • Carpentry and/or trades experience 
  • Displays initiative with ability to organize and prioritize a complex workload
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences
  • Experience with interpretation and application of legislation, policy, and procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint) or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent written communication skills 
Duties:
The Trainer provides short term classroom instruction and project based learning opportunities for clients. The Trainer is responsible for creating an environment that will engage groups of  learners who have had a variety of past experiences and achievements in learning situations.  
The Trainer is responsible for the following:
- Develops trades-related training programs utilizing a variety of instructional methodologies applicable to needs and skill levels of learners
 - Ensures clients with different academic achievement levels are able to understand and incorporate concepts and skills being taught
- Provides essential skills, trades and safe work instruction to learners to ensure success in the workplace
- Evaluates learners' progress utilizing learning benchmarks and provides recommendations regarding employment readiness and/or suitability for other programs and services
- Supervises learners in completion of assigned training activities to provide positive feedback and evaluate learners' additional learning or remedial requirements
- Liaises with partner organizations (gov't, employers, community partners) regarding skills needed and innovations in the industry to incorporate into training curriculum
 - Conducts accurate cost estimates for training projects and trains learners on same
