Introduction
The Manitoba Labour Board operates as an independent and autonomous specialist tribunal, responsible for the fair, efficient, and impartial administration and adjudication of matters related to labour relations in Manitoba.

The Board works to support constructive and harmonious labour relations within the province by working to resolve labour and employment matters.  This involves the intake and processing of applications which include Board rulings, alleged unfair labour practices, certification to bargaining agents and decertification, amended certificates, expedited arbitration, first contracts, duty of fair representation, successor rights, religious objectors, complaints referred by the Employment Standards Division, appeals of orders or decisions made under The Workplace Safety and Health Act and other applications under the Board’s jurisdiction.  As well, the Board works to assist parties in resolving disputes through a formal adjudicative process and through informal processes such as mediation. 

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Experience performing complex clerical and administrative duties, including creating and maintaining confidential files and records 
  • Experience with office operations and management 
  • Experience creating and updating administrative procedures and guidelines 
  • Project management skills including the ability to coordinate documents/materials and schedules with various stakeholders 
  • Effective Interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a team 
  • Strong written communication skills including editing and proofreading large volume of documents or materials 
  • Strong verbal communication skills 
  • Effective organizational and time management skills to meet strict and competing deadlines 
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure accuracy of work 
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence 

Desired:
  • Working knowledge of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and investigations of the Ombudsman
  • Working knowledge of SAP, SharePoint or equivalent database management systems
Duties:
As a lead member of the Administrative Team, the senior clerical position responsible for complex and confidential clerical duties, including the coordination, necessary investigation, and drafting of responses for FIPPA/PHIA requests and Ombudsman Investigations.  The Incumbent will be responsible for processing expedited arbitration applications, requests to appoint arbitrators, conciliators and grievance mediators. They will ensure Board’s electronic filing systems, including case management, SharePoint and other Electronic filing are maintained and updated as required. They will also provide back up to the Administrative Officer for office management functions including facility maintenance, timekeeping, purchasing and supply inventory.
