Introduction
This position is located at Clearwater Lake which is located approximately 16 km North of The Pas, MB  The Pas is located approximately 624 km Northwest of Winnipeg. The Manitoba Government has a comprehensive benefits package, which includes extended health care, health spending account, dental care, vision care, long-term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family related leave, and a defined pension plan.  (Some pension plans allow for portability between Civil Service Superannuation Board of employers.)   Prior to employment, the successful candidate must obtain a driver's license disclosure, a driver's abstract and ongoing disclosures of all accidents and violations in both personal and professional driving and annually thereafter. Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position which may include occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be capable of working outdoors for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence .
  • Must be ready, willing and able to work extended hours and/or be called out evenings,weekends and statutory holidays, as well as work in other outlying areas in the region.
  • Must achieve and maintain certification in the Water and Wastewater Treatment Courses within 2 years of start date.
 
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and supervision of construction and/or infrastructure projects and maintenance of facilities.
  • Experience supervising staff, including providing training, guidance and direction. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cooperate and effectively work with stakeholders and the public.
  • Experience organizing, planning and prioritizing a complex and changing workload.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to prepare memos and other written documents.
  • Experience applying/implementing workplace safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Experience in project management including cost estimating, budgets, purchasing and inventory control.
 
Desired:
  • Experience operating, maintaining and repairing maintenance equipment (such as 1/2 ton trucks, tractors, ride on mowers, ATV's, outboard motors, snowmobiles and other small and heavy equipment)
  • Experience in the treatment and distribution of potable water and collection and treatment of wastewater.
 
Duties:
Under minimal supervision from the Park Works Supervisor 3, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the development, operation and maintenance programs of Clearwater Lake Provincial Park.  Typical duties include, but not limited to:

• Assisting with the planning, organizing, and prioritizing of work and staff commitments, identifying and providing development and supervision of all subordinate staff.   
• Assisting with all park infrastructure including public water systems, waste water lagoon, electrical and structural repairs to all facilities.
• Assisting with cost estimates for materials on various construction projects and financial documentation. Prepares maintenance supply orders and completes and maintains inventory records on all equipment and buildings.
• Oversees preparation of time sheets for all staff, completes month end reports (mileage and credit card). 
• Participates in maintaining accurate files and records relative to staff management, employee appraisals, workplace safety and health and equipment management/safety requirements.
