Introduction
The Parks and Regional Services Division of Manitoba Sustainable Development is seeking  two qualified individuals who will provide leadership in the positions of  District Park Supervisors for the Parkland District which includes Asessippi, Rainbow Beach, and Manipogo Provincial Parks as well as, the Spruce Woods  District which includes Spruce Woods Provincial Park, Criddle Vane Heritage Park and Seton Provincial Park.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence  
  • Must be ready, willing and able to work extended hours, including overtime, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays as/when required
  • Must be willing and able to wear/use personnel protective equipment as/when required
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties related to the position such as but not limited to sitting and standing for prolonged periods, bending and lifting periodically as some field work is required
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work in other outlying areas within the Province with occasional overnight stays
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Experience in the management of a significant park operation or in the management of a large, multifaceted program 
  • Experience with Human Resource Management including recruitment and selection, performance management, managing progressive discipline, providing supervision, training and guidance to staff
  • Budgetary and financial management experience.
  • Degree or diploma in Resource Management, Environmental Sciences/Studies, Municipal Management or a related field with a significant Parks component. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
  • Effective verbal communication skills including the ability to make presentations and conduct staff meetings/training sessions 
  • Effective Interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with staff, other government and non-government agencies and the public
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Effective written communication skills including the ability to prepare letters, memos and reports
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • General office computer skills working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or compatible computer software
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills including the ability to meet strict deadlines
 
Desired:
  • Experience with the construction, operation, maintenance and administration of municipal infrastructure including roads, water and wastewater systems, waste disposal, public buildings and grounds
  • Experience in the delivery of an effective Workplace Safety and Health Program 
Duties:
Accountable to the Regional Park Operations Supervisor, the incumbents will be responsible for the delivery and administration of park operations, maintenance and construction projects within the Provincial Parks and assigned wayside parks including campgrounds, beaches, day/group use areas, hiking trails, summer recreational activities and cultural and natural resource protection including ecological reserves. The incumbents are accountable for ensuring that programs are cost effective, delivered within pre approved parameters, and that professional, business-like quality customer service is provided to the Departments clients. The positions include significant financial and human resource supervisory and management responsibilities.
