Introduction
The Department of Transportation & Infrastructure is looking to fill the Maintenance Superintendent position. The position is located in Steinbach, MB.

Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a valid full-stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence.
- Must be able to travel to work sites within the Region.
- Must be physically capable of performing all of the required job duties (lifting/carrying 0-25 kg, walking on rough terrain, sitting and standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating vehicles and wearing personal protective equipment).
- Must have the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and statutory holidays and be available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Extensive experience related to managing highway maintenance operations.
- Extensive operational knowledge of commonly used highway maintenance equipment and materials.
- Extensive supervisory experience.
- Experience in preparing or administrating budgets and in financial management.
- Experience with computerized maintenance and/or construction management systems.
- Experience in human resource management (i.e. recruitment, training and development, coaching, labour relations, mentoring, conflict resolution).
- Knowledge of related acts, regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to the Maintenance operations.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and courteously with Department personnel, land owners, general public, law enforcement personnel, contractors, etc.
- Strong leadership and ability to plan and organize staff and deliver a service in an environment of continuously changing demands to meet short and long term program area objectives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Duties:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager (MM), the Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for assisting the MM in planning the annual Regional Maintenance Program, and is responsible for the management, administration and the delivery of a consistent highway summer and winter maintenance program within an assigned sub-Region. A sub-Region is comprised of up to five (5) Resource Groups. The Maintenance Superintendent also provides input to the MM in the development of the Regional Preservation and Highway Infrastructure Capital Programs.
