Introduction
Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Liaison Officer for homeschooling, independent schools and Manitoba affiliated schools overseas. Conditions of Employment:

- Must have and maintain a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's license
- Must be able to travel extensively in Manitoba and internationally
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Broad experience teaching in a Manitoba K to 12 public or funded independent schools applying current pedagogical practices related to instruction and assessment.
- Broad experience working with diverse students, including those with needs, and various cultural communities with the ability to integrate diverse perspectives.
- Experience in program evaluation and/or making recommendations based on established criteria, goals and/or objectives.
- Experience interpreting and explaining policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Strong political acumen and the ability to manage confidential, controversial and politically sensitive situations.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high degree of initiative.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions.
Desired:
- Experience leading staff, including coaching and mentoring individuals.
- Knowledge of high school graduation requirements.
Duties:
Reporting to the Director of the Independent and International Education Unit, the Liaison Officer is responsible for liaising with homeschooling families and with school divisions regarding homeschools and monitors and supports a pool of Manitoba non-funded independent schools to assure that students are receiving an education equivalent to that of other provincial students. This position works closely with a variety of individuals and organizations responsible for the operation of non-funded independent schools and homeschools to support the educational outcomes of students in these settings. Duties include contributing to policy development related to independent education.
