Introduction
The Department of Consumer Protection and Government Services is looking to fill an Accounting Clerk position within the Financial Services Section of the Asset Management division in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience creating, processing and maintaining Purchase Orders, and/or Requisitions, and/or Outline Agreements in SAP or similar softwares.
- Experience working in a financial and/or accounting role, including applying and overseeing basic accounting principles.
- Ability to interpret and communicate departmental and divisional policies and procedures.
- Ability to proactively approach problems, analyze solutions and provide clear recommendations.
- Efficient Interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with both external and internal clients.
- Verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with external and internal stakeholders.
- Proven organizational and time management skills to manage large volumes of work with tight deadlines.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Similar Software Applications.
Desired:
- Experience processing contracts paperwork, including the creation of progress certificates, substantial completion forms and holdback releases.
- Knowledge of relevant Government acts and regulations, including Procurement policies and cycles, the General Manual of Administration and Financial Administration Manual, and any other related accounting and contract policies and procedures.
Duties:
Reporting to the Senior Manager and working with a team of two other similar positions. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for procurement, receipt of goods, service entry, and coding of divisional purchases and expenditures in the system used by the Government of Manitoba (SAP). The position also has some limited comptrollership responsibilities to ensure that divisional procurement and expenditures are appropriate within the policies and procedures established by the Province of Manitoba. This position deals extensively with requisitions, purchase orders, outline agreements, supply contracts, supply and install contracts, non-purchase order invoices, overhead invoices, expense claims, procurement cards and logs, reconciliation of purchase orders to construction contracts, creation of project progress certificates, substantial completion forms, holdback release forms.
