Victim Services Branch, Department of Justice is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Accounting clerk, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Completion of a Business Administration and/or Accounting Diploma or Certificate. A combination of related education, training and experience may be considered
- Experience performing accounting transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, creating financial reports and/or maintaining financial records
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and effectively manage deadlines
- Ability to work with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
- Strong problem solving skills, good use of judgement
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), keyboarding and data entry skills
- Effective written communication skills with experience drafting and editing correspondence or other communications
- Effective verbal communication skills to clearly and professionally communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and/or procedures
Desired:
- Experience with the government accounting program SAP, Quickbooks or GenTax including the financial, timekeeping and procurement modules
- Knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and its components
Duties:
The Accounting Clerk dual reports to the financial analyst and the manager of the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program. Under the general supervision of the financial analyst and the manager of the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program, the incumbent is responsible for the overall financial administration of the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program (CVCP), Victim Witness Account, Victim Travel Fund, and Grant/CSA’s. In conjunction with the financial analyst, track and balance Grants/CSAs related costs/spending on a monthly basis and report as necessary.
