Introduction
The department of Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources is responsible for leading the responsible development of Manitoba’s natural resources and supporting social and economic development opportunities in the north.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime when required and work out-of-town  with overnight accommodations in bunkhouses, hotels and tents.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, which may require extensive hours of computer work with a monitor and keyboard, and moderate physical effort when conducting field work.
  • Must be able to travel within Manitoba via motorized vehicle.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • A bachelors degree in botany, ecology, agro-ecology or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of prairie habitat management planning.
  • Experience in the planning, delivery and evaluation of range management programs.
  • Experience in organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines, plan and track budgets, and prepare financial reports.
  • Effective verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective co-operative working relationships with a variety of groups.
  • Strong  written communication skills  with a demonstrated ability to draft scientific reports, plain language documents, and materials for diverse audiences, including funding proposals, reports, recommendations, policy, and legislation.
  • Strong  analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in initiating and completing projects.
  • Technical knowledge of geographic information systems, mathematical and computer analysis, and data management.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, and as part of a team. 
Desired:
  • Experience in training or mentoring scientific and technical personnel.
Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Land Stewardship Manager, the employee will plan, coordinate, organize and supervise the administration and management of prairie-habitat stewardship programs and management plans for upland areas on private and crown land. The incumbent will also review prairie-related development or funding proposals, municipal development plans, and municipal by-laws and prepare the Branch's response.
