Introduction
The Financial Institutions Regulation Branch (FIRB), a division of the Manitoba Financial Services Agency, is accountable for the overall legislative and regulatory framework which governs the insurance sector, credit unions and caisses popluaires and trust and loan companies in Manitoba.  Hours of work are 8:30 - 4:30 Monday to Friday.

Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or CPA Designate preferred.  A suitable combination of related post-secondary education and experience in financial services sector may be considered.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and/or other financial reports.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, foster, and maintain respectful relationships with diverse external and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet competing deadlines
  • Excellent written communications skills.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Desired:
  • Experience in the financial services sector or in a regulatory environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation
Duties:
This position reports to the Deputy Superintendent of Financial Institutions. The incumbent oversees the Credit Union/Caisses Populaires (CU/CP) and the Insurance sectors to ensure compliance with legislation. The incumbent assists with the approval of legal documents such as articles, by-laws and offering statements as well as licensing applications from insurers. The incumbent will liaise with various organizations to review and discuss issues facing the CU/CP and insurance sectors. Duties will also include the review of financial operations of Manitoba insurers and investigation of CU/CP and insurer complaints. A detailed position description is available upon request.
