The Department of Health is currently seeking a Manager, Business Analytics, to join Information and Analytics (IMA), a branch of the Performance and Oversight Division.  IMA leads the Provincial Information and Analytics (PIMA) Shared Service and maintains its data repository.

Qualifications:

Essential:
 

  • Post-secondary degree in Statistics, Finance, Commerce, Computer Science, mathematics, Economics, or related disciplines. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience directly supervising a team including responsibility for operations, personnel, and financial management.
  • Extensive experience evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting business data for statistical reporting and or research purposes.
  • Experience interpreting and evaluating stakeholders’ data consumption needs and  developing data presentation solutions.
  • Strong understanding of health information and business data, including the use of cost accounting information and metrics in the development of KPIs, planning and evaluation
  • Experience leading change management and providing solutions to associated challenges.
  • Experience developing, applying, and interpreting policies and guidelines; to meet operational objectives.
  • Excellent written communication skills to translate business data into recommendations for senior leadership or operational goals.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to support senior management, correspond with external stakeholders, and communicate with team members.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-service skills to facilitate collaboration; and to establish and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to build consensus on complex matters among stakeholders with various technical and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated political acumen to identify and navigate various issues and impacts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.

Desired:
 
  • Experience using administrative health databases for statistical reporting and/or research purposes.

Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Performance Reporting & Analytics, the Manager of Business Analytics is responsible for leading staff within the Business Analytics Team which develops and maintains standardized methodologies and approaches to business analytics and ensures consistency in the analysis of business data.
As the leader of this team, this incumbent will:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, for approval by senior management;
  • Provide strategic staffing functions including: succession planning; performance support, development, and management; recruitment; on-boarding/off-boarding; and
  • Lead the team by:
    • Overseeing data visualizations, dashboards, and reports;
    • Compiling reports and correspondence as requested by senior management;
    • Managing organizational changes at the operational level.
