Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post secondary education preferably at the Masters level, in social sciences,  or a related discipline and related experience.  Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience related to health/social services utilized by people and families impacted by substance use in pregnancy and FASD.
  • Experience in research and analysis and using this analysis to recommend options.
  • Experience in program and/or policy development and delivery. 
  • Knowledge of Canadian Indigenous history, Indigenous-led supports, and issues impacting Indigenous people.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including experience with consensus building within diverse groups.
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience writing clear documents for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point.

Desired:
  • Knowledge of effective approaches for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) prevention, including social determinants of health, harm reduction, and population health approaches.

Duties:
The incumbent is a senior policy and program analyst with a specialty in the area of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) prevention. In particular, the incumbent develops and implements policy and program initiatives that support people who drink alcohol in pregnancy.

The incumbent reviews and analyzes research and program evaluations to develop government programs and policies. The incumbent is responsible for developing, overseeing, and evaluating programs and services. The incumbent will lead the development and delivery of training, presentations and resources related to FASD awareness and prevention.

The incumbent will support the ongoing coordination and development of the provincial FASD strategy, including leading the FASD Interdepartmental Committee and work with other departments and agencies on intervention, prevention and support initiatives related to FASD.
