The Hansard Branch of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly is responsible for the production of the official report of the debates of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly and its Committees.   The Information Technologist plays a key role in the production of Hansard by administering, designing, programming, building and maintaining computer systems and networks that make up these systems. 

The incumbent of this position is an employee of the Legislative Assembly, not a civil servant.

Qualifications:
Essential Criteria:

  • A computer-related degree, diploma or post-secondary education, or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, designing, developing, implementing and maintaining information systems to support business needs
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scripting/coding C#, C++, .NET, Visual Basic, HTML, CSS, JS and other languages
  • Demonstrated database and SQL experience
  • Experience with project management and the ability to effectively managing multiple small to large projects
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environ­ment
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead, coach, mentor, and foster collaboration

Desired Criteria:
  • Proficiency with Ethernet networks
  • Knowledge of digital audio/video equipment, operations, and networked audio programming
  • An understanding of parliamentary procedures

 

Duties:
Under the direction of the Technical Operations Administrator, the Information Technologist is accountable for analyzing, designing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the IT services pertaining to Hansard to ensure system and service continuity, availability, and performance, including project management of new and existing technical programs, database administration, and technical operations support.
