Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post Secondary degree in social sciences, (MSW preferred); and experience in social services delivery environment. Other combinations of education and work related experience may be considered
  • Supervisory experience including managing staff and providing direction and leadership to a service delivery team
  • Experience working directly with sexually exploited youth, advocating through a harm reduction model to reduce the incident of sexual exploitation
  • Knowledge of human trafficking and sexual exploitation including knowledge of Manitoba’s Strategy to prevent sexual exploitation and understanding relevant legislation. 
  • Ability to provide expert advice and leadership to CFS agencies, authorities and other multi sector stakeholders including Indigenous organizations, leaders and communities in Manitoba regarding complex sexual exploitation cases
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to advocate for children and represent government by speaking to the issues at meetings
  • Knowledge of issues such as sexism and racism, colonization, affects of residential schools and intergenerational childhood sexual abuse, family violence, addictions, FASD and mental health issues associated with sexual exploitation
  • Mediation and diplomacy skills to handle sensitive issues with stakeholders who have polarized views
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills with the ability to prepare briefing notes, discussion papers, reports and authority seeking documents

Desired:
  • Knowledge of program development, implementation and evaluation including program/financial monitoring within Manitoba’s sexual exploitation framework
  • Ability to develop and deliver training and awareness presentations involving sexual exploitation
  • Current knowledge of research and best practice approaches related to sexual exploitation

Duties:
The Manager strategically leads the establishment, coordination, management, and daily operations of programs, initiatives and special projects that enhance service delivery and promote positive outcomes for sexually exploited children and youth in the province. The manager relies heavily on their child exploitation expertise, understanding of intergenerational trauma, including impacts of colonization, and strong relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders to facilitate and lead province-wide initiatives and projects.
