Qualifications:

Essentials:

  • Experience providing secretarial/administrative support, including reception/switchboard duties, in a legal office environment
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to deal effectively with judiciary, legal professionals and the general public
  • Experience dealing with confidential information and sensitive materials
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet workload demands and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in the use of LibreOffice, Firefox, Mozilla, Microsoft Office or equivalent software

Desired:
  • Successful completion of a recognized legal secretarial/administrative assistant training program
  • Knowledge of The Legal Aid Manitoba Act and Legal Aid Manitoba’s policies and procedures

Duties:
The successful candidate provides reception services as well as secretarial, typing and clerical support to assigned lawyers(s) within a Community Law Centre.
