Duties:
Working closely with the Executive Director of Investigations the Principal will work cooperatively and collaboratively to ensure all aspects of the citizen concerns process are managed. This includes intake, maintaining a complete and accurate listing, meeting with whistleblowers, performing preliminary examination procedures, and conducting limited scope investigations and/or other investigations. The Principal must ensure investigation plans are sufficiently detailed to generate the evidence required to conclude on the objectives and lines of enquiry.
As the lead for the investigation team, the Principal is expected to manage work within the budget allocated and according to the agreed to timeframes. They are to exercise sound professional judgement and ensure they are current in their knowledge and application of the Office’s processes and investigation methodology as well as all applicable standards.
The Principal works closely with all members of the team. They oversee all aspects of the investigation and are responsible for ensuring the investigation follows Office methodology – including but not limited to sufficient and appropriate evidence, maintaining an investigatory mindset, documentation of findings, and ensuring all procedures are performed appropriately.
