Legal Services Branch (LSB) functions as the law firm to the Government of Manitoba. It provides a full range of high quality legal services to all government departments and agencies, boards, commissions, committees and corporations which do not have their own legal counsel resulting in an interesting and varied work experience. We are currently seeking two experienced, highly skilled lawyers to join our team in the Constitutional Law Section of the branch. Candidates must provide a sample of their writing with their application and may be asked to complete a written exercise as well. The Constitutional Law Section consists of a team of specialized counsel providing litigation and legal advisory services to the Government of Manitoba on behalf of the Attorney General in respect of constitutional issues. This includes matters arising under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Aboriginal and Treaty rights, division of powers under the Constitution Act, 1867, and other constitutional questions. Responsibilities will include providing expert advice on constitutional issues and conducting complex constitutional litigation in both civil and criminal cases before all levels of court and tribunals.
