Apprenticeship Manitoba is a branch within the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Immigration. The Branch is responsible for the administration of The Apprenticeship and Certification Act, the Apprenticeship and Certification – General Regulations, The Apprenticeship and Certification Fees Regulation, the Appeals Procedure Regulation, the Administrative Penalty Regulation, and apprenticeship programs for more than 55 trades designated under the Act. Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be able to carry equipment such as PCs, note book computers, presentation equipment and monitors
  • Must be able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post secondary education related to Information Technology or Business Analysis or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and providing end-user technical support and training related to computers, operating systems, peripheral equipment, software and team collaboration tools including various Microsoft Office and Office 365 Adobe products including Acrobat DC, used within a networked environment
  • Experience managing and supporting projects involving workplace technology and providing IT support
  • Experience in triaging and providing support for application systems for both internal and external user/clients
  • Experience updating system documentations, providing training, coordinating and testing applications
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write reports, training manuals and reference material
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and deliver training
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to abide by confidentiality principles and safeguard restricted information

Desired:
  • Experience with Microsoft Access  
  • Experience working with video conferencing technology as well as related  IT systems, hardware, software, portable and desktop PCs and standard protocols for video communication

Duties:
Reporting to the Operations Unit, the incumbent is involved in the planning and analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and support of the branch’s information technology (IT) functions. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management, functionality, troubleshooting, access control, quality control and reporting of Apprenticeship Manitoba’s IT systems. The incumbent will provide support to Apprenticeship Manitoba staff located in Winnipeg and throughout the province. This position acts as a resource, participates on new technology projects and provides desktop system coordination and support.
