The Department of Finance is looking for a Senior Information Services Officer to join their Tax Information branch.   

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check. 
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license and be willing to travel.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience interpreting and advising on tax acts and tax policies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills to empower, train, advise, and oversee the work of others.  
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to communicate in person, phone, and teleconference with internal and external personnel.
  • Strong written communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders personnel.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact in a courteous and professional manner with internal and external stakeholders and clients.  
  • Ability to work as an effective team member to move forward the objectives and work of the department.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills to conduct research and evaluate complex issues and independently provide sound advice and recommendations.
  • Effective time management skills to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities. 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy to review and proofread various written materials.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Desired:
  • Knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles, legal and business practices, along with an understanding of certain government specific practices.

Duties:
The Senior Information Services officer will participate in the recruitment process of Tax Information Officers and Tax Compliance Officers.  The main responsibilities of this role are; 
• Training, advising and supervising staff.
• Providing complex technical information and interpretation to taxpayers by phone, letter or field visits as well as presenting tax workshops to the public.
• Updating, maintaining, and archiving taxation bulletins, notices, acts and regulations.
• Update and maintain the taxation division’s public website.
• Acting as the branch French language services coordinator.
• Working closely with other Senior Information Officers.
