Work schedule will vary with some weekends and travel required to deliver outreach programming and provide as-required support to Park Interpreters.

This dynamic position plays a key role in supporting the Manitoba Parks interpretation programming, delivering services that enhance park visitors' experiences and inspires stewardship of the provincial park system.  

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License
  • Must be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing and able to travel with occasional overnight accomodations.
  • Must be willing and physically able to perform the duties of the position including working in various types of outdoor conditions, hiking trails, and lifting and moving items of up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Completed post-secondary education in a related field such as natural sciences, natural resources management, education, Indigenous studies, history, recreation/tourism.  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing and delivering interpretive programs at a natural, cultural or historical site, such as a park or museum.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with experience conducting public presentations.
  • Effective written skills with experience developing interpretive media such as signs, exhibits, publications or digital content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with visitors of all ages.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of the natural, cultural and historical resources in Manitoba’s provincial parks.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations for visitors to Manitoba’s provincial parks.
Desired:
  • Experience curating social media content.
  • Experience managing volunteer programs.
  • Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in both official languages (English and French).

Duties:
Duties include community outreach and marketing initiatives, participates in the development of interpretive media including signs, publications and digital content.  The incumbent is also responsible for administering volunteer programs, managing collections and exhibits at park visitor centres and providing resource support for Park Interpreters.
