The Legislative Development Branch provides centralized support to the Labour Division by conducting research and analysis, supporting policy development, coordinating the Labour’s legislative and regulatory development initiatives, and providing support services to a number of advisory boards and committees. The branch also coordinates the Division’s responsibilities under The Regulatory Accountability Act.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience as a leader with a commitment to create, support, and sustain a diverse environment that enables staff to achieve results and to develop for the future.
  • Management experience with responsibility for both human and financial resources.
  • Experience with the design process and implementation of legislation, policies, and programs. 
  • Demonstrated experience to leverage opportunities for innovation, find creative solutions to issues, and successfully manage change.
  • Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to make well thought out decisions through the use of advanced planning, research and analytical skills and the ability to identify and integrate relevant information to determine appropriate course of action/outcomes.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written communications skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely on all matters including politically sensitive and confidential issues.

Duties:
As a member of the division’s management team, the Director is responsible to lead and manage the Legislative Development Branch and provide advice and support to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Labour.
