The Park Works Supervisor 3 position is based out of Paint Lake Provincial Park, MB and serves Paint Lake Provincial Park, Manitoba Indigenous and Municipal Relations Cottage Areas and Pisew Falls Provincial Park.  Paint Lake is located approximately 38 km south of Thompson, MB. 

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence or better
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties assigned to the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing or sitting for prolong periods, bending, twisting, keeling, working outdoors in adverse weather and operating all parks equipment including heavy equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings, holidays, as well as some overtime and be available for after hour call outs as required.
  • Must have Manitoba Class 2 Water Treatment, Class 1 Water Distribution, and Class 1 Wastewater treatment and distributionor be willing to aquire and maintain certification within 5 years of the employment start dated. Grade 12 education or GED 12 is a pre-requisite for obtaining certification.
  • Must be willing to take confined space entry training/certification and perform that task.   work around sewage when required.  Must be able to wear all the Personal Protective Equipment as/when require.  Must be able to work with paints, solvents and chemicals as/when required.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience in the supervision of the operations, construction and maintenance of facilities. 
  • Experience supervising staff, including assigning daily tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with staff, stakeholders and the public.
  • Experience working independently with the abiltiy to organize, plan and prioritizing a complex workload.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions.
  • Experience in the operation of heavy equipment such as loaders and road graders.
  • Experience applying/implementing workplace safety and health policies and procedures. 
  • Experience in project managment including cost estimating, working within a budget, and procurement of materials.
  • Experience in the treatment and distribution of potable water and collection and treatment of wastewater.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel) or equivalent software applications
  • Ability to communicate Clearly both verbally and in writing.

Duties:
Working under the supervision and reporting to the Park District Manager, the Park Works Supervisor  3 (PK3) will assist in the coordination, supervision, and safety of maintenance, operations and minor development programs for both seasonal and full time staff in Paint Lake and Pisew Falls Provincial Parks.  The incumbent's responsibilities may include; operation and/or maintenance of 192 transient and seasonal sites, 6 yurts, cottage subdivisions with over 200 cottages, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities, waste transfer station, recycling program, buildings, roads, hiking trails, beaches, day use areas, boat launches and maintenance yard facilities, as well as winter recreation programs.  The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining files, preparing maintenance supply orders, cost estimates and other associated administration functions connected with the operation of Paint Lake and Pisew Falls Provincial Parks.
