Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be able to occasionally travel over night to work sites within the province by ground and air transportation. 
  • Must have valid Class 5 driver's licence

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • A Civil Engineering Technology Diploma with focus on water resources or a bachelor’s degree or technical diploma with focus on civil engineering, resource management, planning, and/or environmental sciences/studies. An acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Recent experience in capital programming and project planning which may include; land acquisition, environmental issues, and/or right-of-way management. 
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities with strict timelines, and demonstrate flexibility with changing priorities and tasks.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify analyze and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain working relationships and interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently and exercise a high degree of initiative
  • Effective verbal communication skills

Desired:
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to teach, orient and provide appropriate technical information/guidance to staff.
  • Experience with Engineering Software such as Microstation, ArcGIS or similar software

Duties:
The Water Infrastructure Planning Technologist reports to the Director of Water Infrastructure and provides high level technical broad based operational and programming support to the branch in asset management, capital and preservation programs, preliminary engineering, land development impacts, right-of-way acquisition and management including utilities, and other related functions.
The Water Infrastructure Planning Technologist requires extensive interaction and co-operation with Technical Services Engineer, Dam Safety Engineer, Design Engineers, Construction and Project Engineers, and Project Managers.
