Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Liaison Officer for funded independent schools and Manitoba affiliated schools overseas.  The Manitoba Government has a comprehensive benefit package which includes extended health care, health spending account, dental care, vision care, long term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family related leave, and a defined pension plan (some pension plans allow for portability between the Civil Service Superannuation Board and employers).  

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
  • Must be able to travel extensively in Manitoba and internationally
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's license

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Broad experience teaching the Manitoba K to 12 education system, applying current pedagogical practices related to instruction and assessment.
  • Broad experience working with diverse student and cultural communities, with the ability to apply the required cultural competencies to integrate diverse perspectives
  • Considerable school administration or educational supervisory experience. 
  • Experience in program evaluation and/or making recommendations based on established criteria, goals and/or objectives
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, adapt and meet multiple deadlines
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high degree of initiative 
  • Strong political acumen and the ability to manage confidential, controversial and sensitive situations
Desired:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of high school graduation requirements
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, the administration of Manitoba funded independent schools or Manitoba affiliated school overseas

Duties:
The Liaison Officer monitors and supports a pool of funded independent schools and Manitoba affiliated schools overseas, and works closely with a variety of individuals and organizations involved in the operation of these schools to support the educational outcomes of students in these settings. The Liaison Officer monitors compliance with applicable legislative, regulatory, departmental policy and affiliation agreement requirements for Manitoba funded independent schools and affiliated schools overseas, conducts on-site visits, and acts as a resource in providing advice and/or workshops on school organization and management, curriculum implementation, teacher certification, and other matters concerning education administration. The Liaison Officer also contributes to policy development related to independent and international education.
