Manitoba's Mental Health and Community Wellness department is looking for one full-time and one part-time (0.8) Policy Analysts to join our team to support our Health Promotion and Wellness, and our Mental Health and Recovery branches.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post secondary education in health, social sciences or public administration.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience leading the planning, design, development and implementation of policies and programs related to wellness and health promotion OR mental health and addictions within Manitoba’s service system
  • Experience leading and managing projects
  • Experience building relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups 
  • Strong understanding of the social determinants of health, health promotion/prevention and interventions and barriers faced by marginalized populations accessing provincial services. 
  • Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills to present complex subject matter to a variety of audiences both formally and informally.
  • Excellent written communication skills to produce complex written material for a variety of audiences
  • Strong political acumen to navigate sensitive subject matter among various stakeholders with differing positions and interests
  • Strong problem solving skills to evaluate complex issues and provide sound advice and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaberatively as part of a high functioning team
  • Effective time management skills to manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities. 
  •  Ability to analyse and interpret complex information, evidence and research to facilitate the assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of policies and programs 
Desired:
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or a strong understanding of Indigenous history and culture as it relates to mental health and addictions.
  • Fluency in spoken French

Duties:
The Analyst is responsible for policy and program development and evaluation related to mental health, addictions, and the wellness and health promotion system.  The analyst supports the current development and future implementation of Manitoba’s mental health and addictions strategy, and/or the wellness and health promotion strategy, and provides strategic and policy advice as the lead for one or more key functional programs within the branch’s mandate.
