The Inspection and Technical Services delivers technical safety related services and on an annual basis, the Branch processes over 40,000 invoices and collects $6.5 million in revenue.

Qualifications:

Essential:
 

  • Post-secondary education and training in Accounting, candidates with (or pursuing) a professional CPA designation preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Work related experience in financial accounting activities, such as performing audits, reconciliations, and preparation of forecasts, analysis of reports, etc.
  • Supervisory experience with responsibility for planning, organizing and directing the work of others. 
  • Work related experience in financial accounting activities, such as performing audits, reconciliations, and preparation of forecasts, analysis of reports, etc.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to internal and external clients.  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize work to meet strict and often competing deadlines.
  • Experience in developing policies and procedures to build and monitor adherence to internal financial controls. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills for building and maintaining positive working relationships and partnerships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills, including the ability to exercise sound professional judgement. 
  • Strong proficiency in the Accounting functions in SAP.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of government financial policies and procedures. 
  • Experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system.

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Client Services, the Financial Services Team Lead is responsible for the financial activities of Inspection and Technical Services Branch, including comptrollership, cash-flow, budgeting and facilitating the revenue collection functions.

Responsibilities of the position include establishing policies and practices to ensure management direction, control and accountability of resources are in compliance with legislative and administrative guidelines. This includes the coordination of a revenue accounting systems which will ensure that all public funds are properly recorded, promptly deposited, receivables are recorded and collection action is undertaken. The incumbent also provides financial advice and direction to Branch staff, participates in the development of financial systems and processes, and coordinates other financial management activities.
