Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration; and completion of/enrollment in the Professional Education Program level of the CPA program or a recognized equivalent accounting program.  Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Leadership and management experience at a senior supervisory level or a combination of experience and managerial training.
  • Experience interpreting legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Experience writing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaborative working relationships.
  • Analytical skills supporting decisions impacting internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of financial controls, accounting systems and process/system improvement.
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Written communication skills 

Desired:
  • Knowledge of branch financial systems (Gentax, RMS, SAP) 
  • Experience applying and interpreting the Retail Sales Tax Act and the Tax Administration and Miscellaneous Taxes Act.  

Duties:
The Executive Manager of Taxation Administration Branch is responsible for all aspects of the day to day operations of the branch.  The incumbent is considered the senior technical expert on internal controls, refunds, revenue processing, payment processing procedures and related systems under the multiple tax statutes administered by the Division and related legislation.  This includes defining methodologies, reviewing effectiveness of policies and procedures, directing special assignments, researching and recommending amendments to the various tax statutes, providing advice and guidance to senior Taxation officials and ensuring consistency in interpreting and applying the Taxation statutes.  The incumbent is also responsible for processing and reporting of approximately $3.0 billion in divisional revenues collected annually under the multiple tax statutes administered.  The incumbent is the primary back up to the Director, Taxation Administration when the Director is away.
