Manitoba's Mental Health, Wellness and Recovery department is looking for a Policy Analyst to support our Health Promotion and Wellness Branch.

Qualifications:

Essential:
 

  • Post secondary education in health, social sciences or public administration.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience leading the planning, design, development and implementation of policies and programs related to wellness and health promotion. 
  • Experience leading and managing projects and strategic policy initiatives
  • Experience building relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups through community and stakeholder consultation 
  • Strong understanding of the social determinants of health, health promotion/prevention and interventions that improve health outcomes.
  • Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills to present effectively to a variety of audiences both formally and informally.
  • Excellent written communication skills to produce complex written material for a variety of audiences
  • Strong political acumen to navigate sensitive subject matter among various stakeholders with differing positions and interests
  • Strong problem solving skills to evaluate complex issues and provide sound advice and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work as part of a high functioning, collaborative team
  • Effective time management skills to manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities.  
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and evidence and develop program metrics to facilitate the planning, implementation and measurement of policies and programs

Duties:
The Analyst is responsible for policy and program development and evaluation related to physical and mental health promotion, which may include topics such as food and nutrition, physical activity, harm reduction, smoking and vaping cessation, and chronic disease prevention. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the analyst supports the developement and implementation of Manitoba’s wellness and health promotion efforts and provides strategic and policy advice as the lead for one or more key functional programs within the branch’s mandate.
