Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration including progressive administrative and secretarial experience to senior/executive management.  Other combinations of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Office management experience including time keeping, managing office space, equipment, telecommunication requirements, computer systems etc.         
  • Supervisory and human resource management experience including working within a Collective Agreement, recruiting, training, managing performance, leading, mentoring/coaching staff, balancing workloads according to priorities, etc.
  • Experience working with and managing highly confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including  the ability to establish priorities, remain flexible and meet strict and changing deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build working relationships with staff at all levels of government, elected officials, and non-government organizations as well as the public with diplomacy and tact
  • Strong written communication skills with experience drafting, proofreading, and formatting correspondence with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office programs including Word (for creating/formatting correspondence, and documents), Excel (for creating and maintaining spreadsheets to support reporting),  Outlook (for email, scheduling meetings, managing calendars)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills 
  • Experience and ability to develop, implement and evaluate new or existing programs, initiatives, and/or events and to respond to evolving challenges

Desired:
  • Knowledge of government administration, policies and procedures and experience in preparation of Treasury Board and Cabinet submissions, briefing notes, reports, and related routings/preparation materials
  • Experience with Activities Issue Management (AIMS) 

Duties:
Responsible for providing leadership to a team of administrative professionals in organizing and ensuring the delivery of comprehensive, complex and specialized administrative management, support resources, processes and systems.The Manager is accountable for implementing and evaluating the Division’s corporate administrative policies, for providing managerial advice and direction on administrative policies and procedures, for providing a full range of human resource support services, and for initiating best practices that will ensure the ability to respond to changing/emerging demands.
