Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Geography, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Economics, Public Policy, or an inter-disciplinary program.  Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience conducting research, analysis and making recommendations on matters of public policy
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory development
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment including building and maintaining effective relationships with industry and Indigenous stakeholders/partners
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in tight timeframes
  • Experience handling confidential, controversial and sensitive material in a professional, responsible manner
  • Excellent  written communication skills with ability to prepare analytical and authority-seeking documents for decision makers
  • Excellent verbal communication skills including the ability to facilitate discussions between different groups and communicate at the level of the target audience 

Desired:
  • Knowledge of one or more business areas within Agriculture and Resource Development’s mandate, including but not limited to agriculture, forestry, wildlife/fisheries, water management, lands management, or mining

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager, Legislative Development, this position provides expert policy analysis and recommendations to ensure that the Department’s Acts, Regulations, and Orders reflect the objectives of the government and the needs of industry stakeholders, and fulfils the Department’s evolving mandates and objectives. The incumbent will coordinates new and amending Acts, Regulations and Orders through the legislative and regulatory processes.
