The Consultation and Reconciliation Branch implements settlement agreements and supports government departments in the Crown Indigenous consultation process. The Branch works closely with other provincial departments to meet provincial obligations and advance reconciliation through respectful relationships.

Qualifications:
Essentials:

  • Post-Secondary Degree in public administration or social/political science with extensive related experience in policy and program development, planning and performance measurement.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Excellent leadership skills for the purposes of building a high functioning and cohesive team 
  • Supervisory experience including planning, coordinating, influencing, mentoring, and evaluating the work of team members
  • Knowledge of Indigenous histories and perspectives with the ability to identify and draw connections to contemporary issues and events
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people by building rapport and resolving conflict as required
  • Excellent written communication skills for report writing and correspondence
  • Strong verbal communication skills including the ability to make formal and informal presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Highly developed political acumen with the ability to deal with a number of diverse, complex, and politically sensitive situations 
  • Experience overseeing and leading complex projects or initiatives

Duties:
Reporting to the Director, the Manager takes a lead role in supervising and directing Coordinators within the Branch.  Some of the primary working areas of the Coordinators include:

  • Leading meetings and procedures with government departments and Indigenous communities to enable land transfers under Treaty Land Entitlement agreements
  • Facilitating the work of government and community-based members to resource management boards
  • Working with partners to advance land transfers under hydroelectric settlement agreements.
  • Support and training to government departments on Crown Indigenous consultation processes 

A large part of the Manager’s duties will include directing and guiding employees within the branch including coordinators and administrative staff. The Manager will have a lead role on the most complex negotiations and will provide managerial, technical, consultation, research, and analytical support to the director including acting in their absence when required.
