The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is a voluntary, confidential, short term counselling service. The purpose of this program is to help employees and their families with problems that have an impact on their home or work life.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Masters degree in Social Work, counselling or clinical psychology or equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Extensive counselling and case management experience in the social services field providing a full range of direct services to clients including: interviewing, performing assessments, treatment planning, interventions, short term therapy and counselling, providing referrals and follow-up, in person, by phone or through video sessions
  • Experience creating evidence based treatment and interventions plans related to a variety of issues such as workplace conflict, substance abuse, interpersonal conflict, trauma, crisis, personal tragedy, individual, family and couples relationships
  • Knowledge of mediation processes to assist with resolving workplace conflicts affecting individuals ability to perform their duties or which negatively impact the work environment
  • Ability to work co-operatively and constructively as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills including ability to take clinical case notes
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information consistent with privacy legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills  including the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels of government and the general public
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of work
  • Ability to work under pressure and to manage stress effectively while working in a high volume, high stress work environment 
Desired:
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French 
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and history

Duties:
The position performs short term individual, couple or family counselling services, advocacy and support for employees in addressing issues affecting their work, and assessment and referrals to other specialized community resources as required.
