Qualifications:
Essential Criteria:

  • A university degree in social science, or relevant specialized discipline. 
  • Experience in housing or a related social or economic policy area, preferably in the public service.
  • Experience conducting research and developing policy and programs
  • Experience reviewing policy and programs and providing recommendations to achieve established objectives.
  • Experience in market, financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team and with various stakeholders
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in the application of computer technology, including Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and the Internet), or similar software programs.
Desired Criteria:
  • Experience in the use of database programs such as Access, and statistical programs such as SPSS or SAS.
  • Experience in using Geographic Information System (GIS) or other spatial analysis technology. 

Duties:
Under the direction of a Senior Analyst and/or Manager, the Policy Analyst assists in developing strategic housing policy and plans, programs, researching and preparing discussion papers on policy or programs, participating in project and strategic planning and engaging in federal/provincial and Aboriginal housing relations. Responsible to draft a variety of documents and informational material including; briefing notes, advisory notes and issue papers and suggest recommended policy alternatives for the Director. The incumbent will also undertake research projects, data analysis and provide information and advice about housings economic and social policy and program trends, and issues to Senior Analysts, management and other branches.
