Introduction

The Manitoba Securities Commission (a division of the Manitoba Financial Services Agency)  has an immediate opening for the position of Communications Coordinator that reports to the Manager of Education and Communications.

Qualifications:

The following criteria are considered essential:

  • Demonstrated experience using social and mainstream media.
  • Demonstrated sound computer skills using Adobe inDesign, Microsoft Office and WordPress applications.
  • Demonstrated design experience including material development (written or electronic), i.e., brochures, reports, website design, and intranet development.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

The following criteria are considered desired:

  • Knowledge of the securities regulatory environment (framework).
  • Previous committee experience such as acting as a committee participant or project lead on committee projects.
  • Experience organizing and facilitating trade shows and presentations.
Duties:
  • Prepares Commission press releases and distributes media outlets and responds to media requests, plans, writes and disseminates information on Commission matters using appropriate social media vehicles. 
  • Plans, writes and supervises the printing of brochures and Commission projects such as public education programs and plans and writes the content for the corporate websites for Securities, Real Estate and Financial Institutions Regulation Branch (FIRB) as well as Commission stand-alone websites.
  • Incorporates design elements into materials that are developed for Securities, Real Estate and FIRB.
  • Participates on various committees.
  • Participates in development of Communications and Education Strategic Plan.
  • Organizes and attends various trade shows, meetings, and industry events.
  • May be required to deliver public presentations.
  • Plans, writes and posts internal communications for staff.
  • Administrative and other duties as assigned.
