Introduction
Assists the Senior Petroleum Geologist in providing professional consultation and assistance to the petroleum industry, the general public and Branch staff and for conducting special investigations as required.

  • Registered with APEGM
     
Essential:
 
  • A B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology or Geophysics.
  • Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). Familiarity with databases.
  • Experience working in petroleum or sedimentary geology.
  • Experience working in the area of Manitoba's Phanerozoic geology.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision as part of a team (i.e. organised, self motivated, time management skills)
  • The ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and clients verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with repetitive tasks.
     
Desired:
 
  • Experience with GIS software (geoSCOUT & ArcMap).
  • The ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines
     
Duties:
1. Assists and encourages the exploration and development of Manitoba’s petroleum resources by collecting, collating, compiling, assessing and correcting geological information and entering that information into Petroleum branch systems to facilitate the exploration and development of Manitoba’s petroleum resources under the supervision of the Senior Petroleum Geologist.
2. Updates the geological formation tops and related geological information required for the Manitoba Oil and Gas Well Information System and assists the Digital Information Section and the Senior Petroleum Geologist in the planning, development and implementation of the geological components of that system. 
3. Ensures that appropriate geological data are made available to branch staff, the public, industry and clients.
4. Conducts special projects as assigned by the Senior Petroleum Geologist.
