We license liquor sales, service and manufacturing, and license gaming employees, products and operations, and strive to provide a high standard of regulatory service through a balanced and independent approach.

The Liquor and Gaming Authority of Manitoba (LGA) is seeking an experienced communications professional to work in its Communications and Research Department.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have:
• A post-secondary degree in journalism, creative communications, political or social sciences with related professional communications experience. An equivalent combination of related training, education and work experience may be considered.
• Strong writing skills and experience preparing communications adaptable to diverse audiences and various mediums such as news releases, speeches, briefing notes, publications, brochures, announcements and other public documents.
• Excellent oral communication abilities with experience in issue management and speaking to the media (e.g., TV, radio, print and new technologies).
• Attention to detail and accuracy when proofing and editing for diverse purposes, mediums and audiences.
• Successful history of researching, recommending, monitoring, analyzing, preparing and disseminating professional communication products.
• Strong and positive interpersonal skills to build and maintain collaborative and successful relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Successful history of applying strong political acumen to manage issues.
• Expertise using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), and proficient computer skills for managing and coordinating content for websites, intranet and other digital media.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills necessary to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously while achieving high-quality results.
• Effective critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Personal initiative with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

The following qualifications are considered assets:
• Experience in a regulatory agency and alcohol or gaming industries. 
• Proficiency in French.
• Experience working in Wordpress

Duties:
The Communications Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing and managing communications strategies, services and products required to achieve legislative aims and meet strategic, corporate and departmental goals. Working closely with department colleagues, senior management, operational staff and key stakeholders, the incumbent is responsible to craft, deliver and manage internal and external communications messages about the LGA, its mandate and corporate and operational responsibilities and activities. To accomplish this, the incumbent researches, recommends, monitors, analyzes, prepares and disseminates information to diverse audiences via a variety of mediums. The incumbent also acts as a media spokesperson for the LGA and regularly deals with controversial and sensitive issues.
