Introduction
GeoManitoba is seeking qualified individuals to fill two Survey Technologist positions in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively throughout Manitoba via ground and air vehicles
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all seasons
  • Must be willing and able to regularly work away from headquarters Monday thru Friday and occasionally up to twelve consecutive days
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence
  • Must be willing and physically capable of performing the various physical duties of the position including: operation of chainsaws, rock drills, snowmobiles, quad bikes and small boats, as well as more strenuous tasks including: carrying equipment, cutting/clearing boundary lines in forest areas, and installing survey monuments in frozen ground
 
Essential Qualifications:
 
  • Diploma in geomatics technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Strong attention to detail including a high level of accuracy
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a team environment and with diverse groups
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong written communication skills including writing reports, field notes, drawings and office records with attention to clarity, legibility and conciseness
 
Desired Qualifications:
 
  • Experience in legal surveying fieldwork
  • Certificate of completion from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors or actively working towards same
  • Experience in the operation of chainsaws, rockdrills, snowmobiles, quad bikes and small boats
 
 
Duties:
This paraprofessional position provides technical assistance in the discipline of land surveying.  It supports the execution of land surveys, under the direction and supervision of a Manitoba Land Surveyor, in support of real property transactions for Crown land disposition, resource management, and infrastructure development.
