Manitoba Infrastructure is seeking highly motivated individuals to fill two regular positions: Environmental Assessment Ecologist and Environmental Coordinator.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Ability to travel by boat, air, and ground transportation.
  • May be required to work extended hours, including overnight stays.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all the duties associated with this position.
 
Essential
 
  • A Bachelor degree in biological science, environmental science, resources management, or environmental engineering or similar combination of advanced education and directly related experience.
  • Experience in the development or review of Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Experience in the evaluation and implementation of aquatic and/or terrestrial habitat mitigation and restoration solutions.
  • Experience in determining the impacts of infrastructure projects in natural environments.
  • Experience developing and presenting defendable scientific analysis and conclusions.
  • Experience in environmental monitoring.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to establish and maintain effective, positive and professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
 
 

Duties:

The Environmental Assessment Ecologist has specialist professional experience in the fields of aquatic, environmental, and/or terrestrial sciences.  The position is responsible for assisting the Senior Environmental Coordinator with the environmental assessment and monitoring of complex capital and maintenance projects.  The Environmental Coordinator has experience in the field of environmental management.  The position is responsible for inspection and audits of construction activities and provides specialized technical support in the areas of environmental protection, compliance monitoring, and assessment.
