Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence.
 
Essential:
  • University degree in a resource management field with emphasis in land use and resource planning and/or physical geography, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Specialized training and/or experience with relational databases and applied analytics software.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or equivalent software applications.
  • Specialized training and/or experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Water Rights Act and Regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholder groups as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
 
Desired:
  • Training and/or experience in supervising staff.
  • Experience with website planning (development and management).

Duties:

The Water Licensing Database and Analytics Technologist oversees the provision of geospatial solutions by developing and implementing business processes that directly interface with internal and external parties including other government departments and members of the public. The position focuses on making geospatial and web technologies and tools useable and accessible to departmental clients and stakeholders.
