  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Satisfactory Driver's Abstract
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the Assessment District.
 
Essential:
  • Completion of the University of British Columbia's Real Property Assessment Certificate. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Work experience in the field of building construction, land surveying, legal descriptions, agriculture, real estate, land appraisals, GIS or Statistical Analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that facilitate effective working relationships with team members, the general public and management.
  • Experience providing superior client service including the ability to identify and explain complex issues and formulate appropriate responses.
  •  Strong written communication skills with the ability to present ideas and information clearly and concisely in written form.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of verifying sales of the types of properties inspected
  • Experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) or similar computer applications.
 
Desired:
  • Knowledge of real estate financing practices and other aspects of real estate transactions necessary for sales verification for inspected properties.
  • Experience using mathematical concepts and calculations.
 
 
 

Duties:

The Assessment Officer 2 will undertake training and subsequently inspect properties to record characteristics for valuation, classification and assignment of liability to taxation. The incumbent will update property and ownership characteristics in MAVAS and may defend assessment at Board of Revision hearings under supervision.
